The Route from Flagstaff to Sedona |
|
Oak Creek Canyon separates Flagstaff from Sedona, a short distance to the south. There is a big elevation change and the terrain goes from Ponderosa Pine forest to red rock desert. Both my sister and I have strong memories of this canyon from our childhood vacations. She has spoken of her memory of the road just going down into a scary hole. |

This Seems Similar to What We Would Call a Century Plant in New Mexico |

Hairy Woodpecker (I Think?) |
| Sedona is in a beautiful natural setting. New age is
not my deal, but if it is yours this area should feel at home.
Many similarities to Santa Fe or Taos, New Mexico.

| I have flown in to Sedona before and the USS Sedona, so named because it is on a mesa, is well known. Driving in to visit the airport seemed a little less friendly. Like so many airports today it is seriously fenced with barbed wire on top. I saw some beautiful airplanes there, the red rock tour Wacos and a stunning red Swift that landed while I was there. The fencing prevented me from even getting a decent photo. I am amazed anyone is persistent enough to get involved in aviation these days. |
